How long does it take one to detach, or do you remain detached coming into a new situation while remain positive?

It takes me awhile honestly. I kind of go into any new situation with an open heart and mind. I don't necessarily recommend it as your likely going to get burned that way. The thought process for me is that all too often we carry around the baggage and burdens from prior experience. I try to be more fair to my new connections and give them a blank slate to work with. It takes a bit to bounce back when I get hurt, but it's easier to forge new bonds when they don't have to overcome the challenges of my past. I don't advise doing it the way I do as it's riskier, but it's also very rewarding.
