Reflecting on Life

Today someone asked me what my values are. 15+ years ago, I bought a bracelet and each time I find an important value core to my life, I add a symbol of it to my bracelet. This doesn't happen often, but the beauty of it is the values I added 15 years ago are still foundational to what I care about today. I find genuine excitement in meeting people who share some of my values, and in trying to build a professional career and life around expressing them. It is impossible to explain each value in precise words, but here's my best attempt: * Insight (every person has a spark of wonder, and they should have an environment to embrace it) * Glow (people have the ability to glow and inspire others if they choose to) * History (we should respect the past as it helps us understand the world today) * Time (our culture misinterprets time, it is not a linear path, but a framework that connects our experiences) * Nature (the natural world is filled with limitless elegance and provides order to our complex lives) * Mentorship (we all have the ability to teach others and guide them on their path) * Space (the universe is bigger than we will ever comprehend, but we are still as meaningful as any other part of it) * Freedom (to express themselves, people need the freedom that lets them) * Ecology (we are not individuals, but extensions of an environment we share together) * Learning (we have an obligation to explore and learn, making the most of our surroundings) * Biology (we are collections of biological organisms, whose physical components create consciousness and that is magical)
