i believe overthinking is something that we can consciously change and control. i tried this method where you basically write down every single things that you're worried about, then circle the ones that you can control, and erase the ones that are out of your control. it works pretty well for me, and i still do this method from time to time to regulate my mind! hope this helps :)

Morning pages (journaling) helped me a lot. Also moving my body (dancing for istance). Or a change of scenery: going for a walk. In the long term meditation has been helpful to become more aware of my thoughts, so I can stop them before they spiral out of control.

I try to write down all my thoughts so they stop rattling around my head. Even just to type it and immediately delete it. It also helps to make goals, or problem solve for problems.

I recently saw in a YouTube video a girl described detaching herself from the situation. Like you're watching a character, and you will just observe how they act. She didn't use these words, but it sounds like how you control a video game character. So sometimes when I'm overthinking what to say to a coworker or someone, I'll remind myself of that, and think of my physical existence as something like an avatar. It doesn't feel like the consequences of any poor reactions will fall onto me then, it will fall onto the player character, and I can choose something from the next set of prompts.

stop. touch fingers to thumb, in a chosen pattern. repeat a simple sentence out loud, such as "i am present and here, i am alive." wiggle your toes in your shoes. think of the ground, then imagine your perspective zooming from the ground youre atanding on allllll the way out as far as you can imagine. repeat your sentence out loud a few more times.
