In my eyes, what makes someone a great friend is when they genuinely care about you, are considerate and match the energy that you put into the friendship

Integrity. Someone who uses what spoons they can on you when you need them and that you would do the same. Both understanding that even when you have no spoons, you care.

The consistency and authenticity of friendships though near or far from each other. You can easily know it by actions, words and longevity of the friendship.

Sincerity; for me, this is a staple trait in all kinds of relationships. My definition of an amazing friend is someone who will give you honest feedback and won't talk behind your back.

I feel like a bit of a broken record, but omoiyari. It's the concept of observant compassion that really builds a lasting effect. Once you embody it, it becomes easier to see others who walk the talk as well. :)
