They both help

Yoga and counselling in general are both good forms of therapy to help with anxiety and depression. I've don't counselling for both and of does help as for yoga I'm still yet to get back into it but it was very relaxing and a distraction from my anxiety

Not entirely sure what social counseling is in comparison to standard counseling. But I think we can all benefit from counseling, it let's us separate and talk about, and feel complex and challenging things we cannot unpack on our own. Yoga is good for you if you like yoga. Sure anyone can do yoga. But not everyone will do yoga consistently.

Not yoga. I agree with exercise, as that's obviously healthy. But I can't go along with yoga, due to spiritual beliefs. Yoga has ancient pagan origins, and is tied to the worship of Baal. So I wouldn't practice it, at all. Counseling is questionable as well, depending on what type of counseling. Nowadays, a lot of counselors give advice from a humanistic, secular approach (which is often giving a more self-serving mindset). Also, why should I give my hard-earned money to some stranger, for them to pretend to care about me?🤷 Nah, I'll talk to God, then family and friends. Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth.😖 Lol

It would more than probably be helpful if the had to go to a class. You would want it to only have no more than say 8 to 10 other clients, just enough for making friends, but not so many that the client would feel overwhelmed. Between making friends, exercise, a change of scenery and therapy. The client should get some benefit.

I think depression is related to not being happy with your self and you can 100% get out of it if you genuinely try (I was diagnosed, took ssri's for 1 month, said screw this and got out of it and sorted my life out). Anxiety is a bit different i feel and things like yoga/meditation can probably help since it's closely related to the fight/flight response you get. Not sure how social counseling helps with these unless you have some truly buried dark past you haven't accepted

Body awareness that yoga teaches is a great place to start for anxiety. Noticing and reducing tension in your body, lowering the baseline of tension. And getting used to noticing physical tension and its relationship with your psychology. Councilling was hit and miss for me, it can be useful if you are critical of yourself or if you if you don’t have people in your life that can listen without judgement. But its not a cure-all and definitely can’t fix depression on it’s own.

I went through the same. I had anxiety issue ever since I was in high school and due to it my health suffered a lot. I tried yoga, counselling and medicine and mix of that is working for me. I think it’s about finding the right mix for you. And yes, in my opinion yoga helps if you are consistent and find the right teacher. 😌 Loads of love.

Social interaction and physical exercise are two of the best strategies to use against depression and anger issues.

Some of the things that have helped me and are backed by science: 1. Meditation. This is a big one. Ttry to do at least 10 minutes each day, immediately after waking up or bedore going to bed. 2. Your sleep habits matter. Try to go to bed at the same time every night and sleep ideally for 8 hours. Try not to view any screens after 10pm, since blue light destroys your sleep. 4. View sunlight soon after you wake up and during sunset, for at least 15min. This might sound strange, but there are pretty solid studies that show how red light impacts our circadian rhythm and nervous system. Please, don't stare at the sun 👀 but the important thing is to be outside and without sunglasses. If it's cloudy, it just takes longer for it to have effect. (See @hubermanlab for more info) 4.Exercise, duh. Zone 2 cardio and aerobic exercises are shown to be most effective, but do whatever you find makes tou feel better, as long as you allow your body to rest. 5.Physical sighing-another weird one, but science says it's probably the quickest way to relax your nervous system when you feel unease. How it works: Like a normal sighing, basically. You inhale fully theough your nose and when your lungs are full you make one additional inhale. Then you slowly exhale through thinly pursed lips, as if you have a straw in your mouth. You repeat that for a couple of minutes. 6. NSDR a.k.a. Yoga Nidra. This one is a really powerful practice that is used for calming the nervous system. You basically lie down and listen to the guide. Just type NSDR on YouTube. There are 10 minutes long or more. Just try it and see how you feel afterwards. 7. Cold Exposure-when you finish showering, swith to cold water, but not extremely cold, just enough to make you feel uncomfortable. Soon you'll start to hyperventilate. Try to calm your breath down during that phase for around 30secs. It will teach you with time to control your stress response better and studies show that. These are some of the self-help methods I use. Of course, therapy is probably the best way to deal with your problems, but these are really effective as well, as long as you do them consistently.

Personally I am a huge supporter of mindfulness as a tool to live with anxiety, without it taking over your life. The powers of group therapy cannot be overstated. I just graduated from a program a week ago and I can honestly say I feel more equipped to deal with life in general. If you’re dealing with something difficult…there’s no shame in it, and it’s never too late to get help!

Yoga should be considered as a complementary therapy or alternative method for medical therapy in the treatment of stress, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders as it has been shown to create a greater sense of well-being, increase feelings of relaxation, improve self-confidence and body image, improve ...

i think yoga is only a part of sports... and yess, i usually doing yoga every morning before going to work just for stretching my body or because for make my body fresh

I do know yoga has so many benefits helping with anxiety and depression most definitely. By doing yago you're remaining active enough to stay out of your head, you're not thinking about anything other than the stretch itself. You're in the moment. Social counseling not really too sure what that is. 😅
