Do you believe that men should pay all the bills or should it be 50/50 between the man and the woman?

Each couple should do what works for them! Some examples: My friend's spouse makes more than her so they split things 60/40. Growing up another friend's mom worked and her father was a stay-at-home dad and took care of cleaning, childcare, etc. As long as both people are happy with the set up, do whatever the heck you want!

It should be 100/100 between the man and woman. If one part isn't contributing to the household financially then they should be taking care of the household/family. It's 2023 you can't be 50/50 with someone like Oprah Winfrey or Mariah Carey. So play into your strengths instead of trying to make things "equal".

That's one of the problems with today's society. What is this preoccupation with rules? Every relationship is unique. Every person is unique. For me to say it should be one way is extremely narrow-minded, insensitive and quite silly, to be honest. In any partnership it is a give and take situation. It is entirely up to them who contributes what. What about of there is no man and woman? What if it's man and man? Then what? Or woman and woman? Or they and them? We should really concentrate on opening our minds and closing purposes mouths. Sorry, not sorry.

Based on their mutual agreement/discussion. No assumption. DATING 1. Take turns. One pays for food and the other drinks. One place and the next on the date. One date and the next. Big events vs regular little events... 2. Go halves or a preferred ratio 3. Each pays for their own 4. Proactive randomness. Each offers to pay for any bill they feel joys to pay for and negotiates the rest/leave it for randomness/a mutually agreed ratio. 5. A shared account for dating OFFICIAL RELATIONSHIP, COHABITATION 1. One pays for some and the other the rest to their choice 2. Go halves or any preferred ratio 3. A shared account to pay it all My view, the equity & collaboration, not equality (keeping scores) works in relationships. (edited)

It is never 50/50. Men are always expected to do more. It sounds nice but women in western society are coddled and society expects men to do more. If a woman quits her job gets fired the man is expected to be traditional and support the wife and kids. If the man quits his job or is fired women and society see men as lazy, loosers and bums. Facts! (edited)

I could care less, it all depends on the person I'm going out with. A girl who doesn't ask for anything, deserves everything and the one that ask for everything deserves nothing. There is nothing more to say.

First date, I think the guy needs to set the standard and shoulder the bill. In this way, he shows that he is serious and that he could take care of his lady. 2nd date onwards , I believe in 50/50. I haven't been out on a date in 16 years but this was my practice in my 20s. (edited)

I think it's the person who initiates the date. Especially when it is the man who asked the woman first. However, in the long run of the relationship, it must be 50/50. (edited)

50/50 in the starting but if the man is serious about the relationship. He wouldn't let her pay for anything. Period.

For the first date my believe is yes man must pay the bills then after the longer relationship we can pay 50/50, just be flexible cos love always compromises in everything ❤️

It should be 50/50 each person but it’s more likely to be 50/50 of each persons pay so the bills may end up being payed for more so by whom ever makes more ie 70/30 60/40 or whatever their pay is able to cover if they make less they pay less this way both ppl are give an equal amount of what they earn

If you are married... perhaps could be proportionate to income... e.g. could probably be weird if one earned twice as much than the other and expects bills to be 50-50? But shared bills where possible would be best... even if not 50-50 or directly proportionate to income... both should contribute if able to

At the point the relationship is getting serious, I’ll have that discussion. She’ll have to know, if I’m paying everything, she will have to pull her weight at home.. there isn’t any letting the dishes pile up, dirty laundry, me making my own dinner, etc. If she’d like to stay working, then we’ll split bills. I don’t have a strong desire for one over the other, but I’m not okay with her changing her mind after years, so whatever we agree to in the beginning, is how I expect it to go.

It depends on the man's income and your bills. If the woman wants to stay home raising children and you can afford to why not? Otherwise if you're just two people with no dependents just living life yes you should both work to build a future together. There's no black and white answer here.

My partner and I pay proportionate to our income. So if he made 65% of our combined income that is how much of the bills he'd pay. Currently it's pretty equal but we adjust it whenever it changes

If you can't meet someone halfway for something as simple as a bill, how do you expect to meet halfway for a relationship? I'm not carrying anyone through life, meet me halfway or don't waste my time.

None of these options necessarily... I think best and fair way to handle this is by an agreement. It could be 50/50 or according the economic possibilities of each one.

It doesn't really matter, but I think a lot of the reason men insist on footing the bill is because they know that women will subconciously lose respect for them if they let a girl pay for their meal.
