In yogic philosophy...Character is not a performance for others but a consistent state of being The yogic texts use the metaphor of Manthana means churning to explain how true nature is revealed...Just as milk must be churned to produce butter...a person must be churned by life's pressures to reveal their internal quality Modern neuroscience mirrors this...noting that under extreme stress...the prefrontal cortex which manages our polite...social filters often shuts down...this leaves the amygdala & our deepest most ingrained habits to take control revealing who we truly are when we can no longer afford to pretend A central Vedic tenet is Dharma means righteous duty aligned with flow of cosmic laws toward all living beings...this suggests that character is most visible in how we treat those who are powerless or unable to offer us anything in return In modern psychology...this is often measured through Social Dominance Orientation...individuals with high integrity show low dominance tendencies...meaning their level of respect & empathy remains constant whether they are speaking to a CEO or a server The Upanishads emphasize the state of Svastha means being firmly established in one's own Self This implies that your true character is the version of you that exists in total solitude...away from the theatre of social expectations Behavioral ethics studies this through the lens of anonymity...when the external rewards of reputation are removed...a person’s actions p rovide a pure map of their internal moral compass The ultimate yogic standard for character is Trikarana Suddhi the total purity & synchronization of your Manasa means thoughts Vacha means words & Karmana means actions When these three are in harmony...there is no hypocrisy From a scientific perspective...this is the absence of "Cognitive Dissonance" A person of high character doesn't have to experience the mental strain of rationalizing bad behavior because their external actions are a seamless reflection of their internal values 🤍 🌌✨🙏🧘♀️♾️
