I am now. It depends on what Business you run and is it a Business with Legs that doesn't need your attention 24/7. Real Estate is Tricky because you don't just do it one way. There are many avenues on how to Rent or sell in different forms of economy or areas. Or if you run a boutique you can go from a store front to Ecommerce and brand differently in different states. I had a Coffee business with Low Acid coffee I marketed to Fitness groups and bodybuilders perfect for Intermittent Fasting during Covid. Made my living this way aswell. So it depends what you got going on and what work you're willing to put in. These were how I stay afloat when I lost all Work.

To stay afloat in the face of adversity, I'd focus on purpose, end goal or mission. This helps have a flexible mindset to find solutions and not get too stuck on issues. To generate revenue during anytime, I've learned partnerships can be a game changer. Partner with individuals like influencers or complimentary businesses like Airbnb does with airlines. This question is much too open ended. It all depends on industry trends, current offerings/operating costs vs profits and trending returns, your company mission vision and values to orient what matters most in your gauging of success, and what business targets are the most feasible from asessing all of these things. Looking at what revenue streams/investments are likely to tank or fail and lowering risk there is a good start as well as lowering financial credit based risks/loans for fear of not being able to pay it back due to dimishing revenue returns in a recession.

We should strive to create healthy work environment, and treat your workers like family and not just like tools. If you do that, they will understand when bad times hit and thing aren't as good as they were, because they will knwo deep down it will be back as soon as possible. This only works if you hire right people, some will leave you no matter what.

Maintain morale of my employees by not firing them by the thousands, and if I can increase their wages/benefits to better retain them as valued people. Basically, not be all about profits at the cost of everything else.

First, understand why and what caused the problem. Second, obtain the necessary tools/knowledge that will solve the problem. Lastly, execute the solution. If that didn't solve the problem, start all over again. Document everything, in order to not replicate and be able to identify the same problem again (edited)

Side job? π I actually AM, an entrepreneur.. and we are, in a recession time (at least in italy). I can't stay afloat, so must do other kind of works at the same time while upgrading my skills both as ability to do my work and recently, contracting abilities... Main problem for me, is that my services have been highly underpaid during these years, and this was because I lached the ability to ask what is, at least, the bare minimum this job should be paid. (This comes from a collegue which has actually criticized me, saying that I am destroying the industry while also destroying myself) (edited)
