I think that in order to understand the question, I would like to exemplify it: Let's imagine that the universe is a giant ocean and you are a wave. The wave doesn't need to ask the sea what the meaning of its life is, because the wave is the sea in motion. If you look at the stars, they seem far away and that they don't care about us, that they are just a huge sphere of incandescent gas. But the atoms that make up your eyes and your heart were created inside those very stars millions of years ago. That's why the universe cannot be indifferent to you because you are a part of it.
