I had a conversation with a poly friend and they told me I shouldn't be so controlling and jealous. How poly helps you get rid of ego and you are just happy seeing your partner happy. From my perspective, it sounded like a whole lot of cope. I could tell they weren't happy and were indeed jealous. Fast forward two months. They just let me know that they got dumped, and to me, it wasn't surprising because this has happened to a few of my poly friends. After they were cool enough to let their partner get another partner, they were left in the dust. Honestly being single and at peace looks better each day. Do I get lonely? Yes, I wish I had a fantastic partner. However, if I have to be happy for my partner while I cry inside, I would rather be alone. (edited)

I have never seen a poly relationship work and every one I've seen was instigated by the guy. Zero exceptions. Someone always whines about being cheated on, and it always ends in disaster. Correction... One exception. I had a guy friend who's marriage blew up when his wife announced she was suddenly poly and couldn't take being stuck in monogamy anymore. He's since switched to poly cuz ✨️trust issues.✨️

Poly relationships never work. Its just a way for people to openly cheat with "approval". someone always leaves and poly-relationships just inforce bad behaviors of not being commited and leaving instead of working on the relationship. Bad for peoples mental health, and typically people who are into poly relationships, 99% of the time have mental health problems and are not seeking corrective help.
