Depends on your frame of "dating". I think the regular first date or maybe proto-date depending on your view... is an informal and commitment free, getting to know each other. If things progress, from there on out, transparency seems key to me. But parallel dating doesn't otherwise rub me as morally wrong. Until the relationship turns from "casually dating" into something monogamous and committed. From there on, "parallel dating" is plain on cheating from my pov. (edited)

I guess it depends what the understanding is, if I was looking to be Monogamous again. It comes down to honesty to me since my standard is, what cuts one way best be cutting the other in most cases. I feel like this question boils down to "What constitutes dishonesty?" To which my answer is: "If you feel like you are being dishonest in your omission, then you tell your person, if you want to keep them around.
