Normally I'd say can't happen but my sister is making hers work out really well and now I think it can be good

Everyone is very different so the answer is different for any two individuals. Although the ability to trust and be trustworthy are invaluable in any distance. I also think that spending some face to face time together with them is a must if either person needs a tangible reason to keep in contact. It takes two very focused and mature individuals to make it work long term.
