1yHear me out
My first relationship was at 13, which lasted 4 years and ended because he took physical actions against me that I did not want. Sexual assualt. At 17, I had a 2 year relationship where I almost got married. We were engaged and we broke up because he cheated. I have high standards and I don't tolerate bad behavior. These both ended because they did something I said not to. Was this hard? Terrifying? Absolutely and not everyone is so fortunate to be able to just get out. It was immediate consequence to their actions and.. they were shocked. My guy friends were shocked. Some of my girl friends as well. They all believed there would be forgiveness or a second chance. I think this is because everyone is so scared to be alone they will tolerate abuse or someone breaking the most basic rule in a relationship. Do I want to be alone? No. Im terrified, just like a lot of people but the difference is that, Im not willing to stay with someone who isn't worth it. I'd rather be scared but safe than scared and harmed. Why do people let men or women back into their lives over and over again. Aside from fear of being alone, the conclusion I found was lack of self respect and lack of self worth from both genders of this generation. We all want someone real and genuine. Someone who would sacrifice the world for us. It isn't a crime to want that but many of us don't seem worthy in the sense that can we give what we want? Can you give your time, money, heart, soul, sweat, tears, blood. Can you give your everything to someone, in order to receive it? What I am sure of is, too many people are detached and cowardly. Too scared of rejection and the social impacts it could have on us. It is harder to do than to say but we all need to be braver. We have this life to live. You may feel shame or humiliation if rejected but you will survive the pain. You would have experienced something. Or you may find a relationship even if it doesn't last. You still lived and learned by doing. Are you really living by doing nothing? Is standing on the outside, with your vulnerability clutched so tight you bleed it out onto others, worth it? We all need to be less judgemental. This may be one of the most accepting generations but it is most certainly the quickest to preach cutting people out of your life at the first sign of conflict or disagreement. It is why many of us dont even have real friendships, let alone romantic relationships. Many can't seem to agree to disagree. To still love someone and be there for them whether the disagreement be over politics, religious beliefs, etc. Unless they are actively causing harm with the INTENT to harm, I dont beleive you should just cut someone off. Not everything is black and white. There are so many shades of grey as to why someone may support or beleive something that are just as valid as yours. At least stay and ask why. Try to understand. Even for simple arguments this seems to ring true and it is painful to see. I used politics and religion specifically because they are so controversial, and for good reason. Obviously if their support or beliefs come from wanting to hinder or harm a group of people because of something like race, gender, sexuality, etc., Im not saying to listen to those people. They are wrong and should feel the humiliation of being ostracized. It is 2025. Surely we have evolved enough to know who should be heard out and who should not. Someone was very angry that I did not include this little disclaimer. I apologize. I thought it was self explanatory. Moving on: We have to show up. We have to live and put ourselves out there for our own happiness. If you dont let people challenge you and make you question your beliefs and current view of the world, all you have is yes men. You have to really listen to. Help others so that they may help you. What goes around comes around. Im sure you get the idea. You don't have to do anything you don't want but isn't it worth it to learn? To see all sides and make your own conclusion? Maybe exhange beliefs and ideas? To grow together? We all share this planet so we should do better by each other, not just for friends or partners. I truly believe that by doing the first part, true friends and a love of your life follow right after. If you read all of this, thank you. I'm not an expert obviously, this is just what I have noticed and am curious about. Edit: I cleaned it up a bit. Im so glad to anyone who found this helpful and for the compliments haha. I appreciate it ♡ (edited)

I think one of the reasons people might not have self love or self respect is due to physical or sexual trauma growing up. Healing a journey, and not everyone is in the same emotional space. It's important to be honest and upfront of needs and boundaries, not everyone is taught that or shown by example, and it's part of the individuals growing and healing journey.
I enjoyed every moment of reading this, although, I felt slightly exposed. Even at my age. It's motivation for me to just put my plans into action immediately, you're an amazing human being. It may seem questionable of me to say this to you, but it's helped me in a dark place. I thank you for this. Really, I do.
You really are one of my kind. Every word you’ve said felt like an echo of my own thoughts. I won’t waste time justifying why you’re destined for greatness, since you’re far more articulate than I was in my early 20s. I just want to say I’m genuinely sorry that life threw so much hardship your way so early. But, from one ENTJ to another, I believe your blessings come in the strangest disguises. You’re everything anyone could hope for on this Earth, a manifestation of true courage and all that comes with it 🤗
I really appreciate the depth of your reflection. You’re right... fear of rejection and the urge to cut people off at the first disagreement have made genuine connections so rare. True growth doesn’t come from surrounding ourselves only with ‘yes-people,’ but from the discomfort of listening, disagreeing, and still valuing the bond. Vulnerability is painful, but it’s also the only way to experience something real. Your words are a strong reminder that courage and empathy should walk together.
