@Anyta I wanna answer by using a part of your definition. You mentioned "absolute acceptance and understanding". Since acceptance comes after understanding, I stick to understanding. I think we can all agree that understanding something happens gradually and it's a process. So you answered your question.

I think love is ever growing. I've felt strongly for others quickly but the feelings left as soon as they did..I had a 10 year relationship, even though we're very different people now i still love her

It's a bit semantic...what is love. I think it requires going through some sh*t together. I think it's when if you lose them for whatever reason your life would fundamentally change. That's "in love" with someone. Not the same as just general love for people. You can certainly have chemistry, desire, or connection, feelings for people almost instantly. Once in love though it will grow until its starved or suffocated like any other living thing.

I think it’s not the same for everyone / every couple. Some one fall in love right away and never fell out of it. Some takes time. Some fall head over heels at first sight then fall back out the next day.
