Yes, you can have constructive arguments about topics that both parties don't agree on while also respecting eachothers point of view and opinions.

to some degree hahaha i live in a pretty conservative and catholic dominated country, it gets exhausting to have to sit through people's repetitive takes on women and queerfolk and things i care about deeply especially when i feel like it's not something... how do i explain it? hahaha like, to me these are deeply personal things that matter to me and to them it's just another conversation over lunch and it's like a done deal why are we even considering this topic thing or some even get pushy about how they're correct when clearly only considering how it affects them — which it barely does i haven't ended relationships (friends, families, partners) with people like these, but i don't keep them close :)

I am a Jeffersonian protectionist who believes in decentralized government. I have a friend who used to be a Trotskyist, and is still in the general area though much less extreme. We used to talk politics quite a bit. I am a Christian, I have a friend who is a nihilistic atheist. If your friendship dies over one disagreement, there was never a friendship to begin with.
