First Message Tips

1. Do not start off with "You seem to like intellectual debates, so do I! *Insert random topic to debate*" I know how some people hate small talk but even if the other person likes to discuss certain things, that is not how you start one. First, you don't even know what the other person is interested in. Or do you expect anyone to jump on whatever you want to talk about? You won't sound like an intellectual when you do that, I promise. 2. If the other person responds to the debate topic in question and you get the opportunity to present your own thoughts, please do a better job at it. One, you are the one who chose the topic. Two, if you make pros and cons, at least mirror your points into the other. If you talk about financial aspects of one or environmental impacts, discuss it in the other as well. You will sound like a very biased person. Also, yes. Referring to the person who messaged me and blocked (?) me after I asked questions about his points and called the debate stupid because it shouldn't be an A vs B discussion. It's all a funny experience but seriously, there are different ways to start a good, healthy discussion.
