Establishing what a person does with 30% of their life is a good avenue into the kind of person they are. Even if you’re unsatisfied with your career, it gives you the opportunity to explain what you’d rather be doing. Opening conversations are a two way street communication. You have the chance to make an engaging reply.
I tried to start conversations with asking your interest I think it just easy way to start conversations tell me how you would like men to start conversations?

I turn how are you into a scale of 1 to 10 and then ask why which actually makes their initial (a bitdull) question more interesting and is a better ice breaker 😉

Reason is that it's tough to create an ice breaker, guys play safe, they dont wanna offend and they want to hold the conversation. So for guys ice breaker is tough ...holding a conversation is tougher
Usually I sit next to a person who I wanna talk to... Point at some random passerby and make a judgemental comment about them. From there... Smoothsailing. Works everytime lol

Well for me it's a test "are u real" question. From pastexperiences I can usually tell by their response to "what do you do?" question as to if they're full of BS or not, which happens a lot here.

I believe it to be polite and rather normal. When you meet someone in real life for the first time, will you address them with a catch phrase or ask them how they are? Just because a mundane question isn't unique, it can reveal a lot about the one that's asking (either being polite or legitimately interested) and the one that's reacting imo ^^
