Just Be Honest, Damn

I’m genuinely impressed by people who claim they’re “looking for someone who will love them,” while ignoring everyone who actually tries to reach them. Then you hear: “Looks don’t matter to me. I care about the heart.” Sure. And somehow, every chance you give just happens to go to the attractive ones. What a fascinating coincidence. Then there are the “I don’t need attention” people, posting themselves every five minutes like they’re running a 24/7 personal advertising campaign. At some point, you have to wonder... when did honesty become so unpopular? Everything feels like a performance now. People say what sounds good, pretend to want what makes them look good, and act like someone they think others will approve of. You know what’s actually attractive? Being honest about who you are and what you want. You don’t have to pretend you’re above looks, attention, validation, or anything else. Just own it. Because sometimes being brutally honest is far more respectable than desperately trying to impress people with a version of yourself that doesn’t even exist...

You really believe this is a new concept, or something that hasn't been going on since the dawn of time? Most people will try to make themselves look attractive (Meaning they post for their pic, they say what they believe is attractive to others, etc). I personally prefer someone who's not afraid to point out their flaws. But... when a profile says 'honesty is the most important thing' and their images use filters? That's just hilarious. :)

Honestly, I think there’s a difference between being dishonest and simply being human. People can genuinely value personality and still have preferences when it comes to attraction. Wanting attention doesn’t automatically mean someone is fake either. The real problem is pretending you have no preferences or needs just because you think admitting them changes how you’ll be perceived for having them. Yes, honesty matters. But so does giving people the benefit of the doubt. People gain approval and validation through all kinds of means, and sometimes they do it in indirect or contradictory ways. But yeah, you’re right. People do play these funny little games all the time. Curious, isn’t it?
