Single dads

Question

I've often wondered, how do single women/single moms feel about single dad's? I have my kids 50/50 with my ex.  It's been 3 years now and I've had one relationship for a year and a half, but she had older kids.  I've talked to a few single moms that are friends and it seems a toxic ex is more of a red flag/deal breaker than having kids.

Just wondering what the general consensus is out there.  Would some women feel like they are in competition for attention?  Would they stop being nice to the kids if there were arguments? I've heard a few bad stories from single dad friends who got remarried as well.

I don't have a problem with single dad's that actually show up and parent their children. The majority of single fathers I've come across tend to throw money and material objects at the kids and completely check out when it comes to what really matters. Sure you got your kid the newest pair of shoes so their friends will think they're cool, but did you teach them to be good humans? I've seen too many dads let their kids treat the new gf like absolute garbage and say nothing to those children about it, but will reward them with more possessions.

To the point of a toxic ex, yeah that's typically an issue. We just don't have the time or energy to be arguing with some woman who can't let go and thinks she runs your life just because she spit out your crotch goblins

Ex's to single Mums and Dads certainly can be a big factor in relationships. In the past I have dated someone with kids when I had no kid, and it was very awkward at family birthdays or family events, but everyone tried to be mature about it. Now as a Mum myself, I have no issues dating someone that is a Dad. If their ex is toxic, I would not try to interfere and keep minimal distance to her and just let the Dad deal with his ex (mainly because he would know her better than me). It certainly is easier though to be with someone without that kind of drama though. My ex and I don't try to make our kid like 1 parent better than the other, so if someone is doing that to the kid(s) then it really isn't nice and can cause some trauma to all involved including the kid(s)...Let kids be kids, not part of a game. Be a happy parent and let your kid(s) be happy. If the ex really is toxic, perhaps move away just to get a better life...If u can't because the kid is too young, maybe in the future. A partner to a single parent though can be patient and calm, so it really depends on the individual and how resilient they are also...Like not to take things personally if it's about the ex and the kids rather than that (new) person dating the single parent with the toxic ex

The evil step mom thing is a human issue, it's nature.  Women will always favor their children over yours.  You are better off to raise your children alone and not worry about dating.  That's my experience.
