Is physical attaction a huge deal for someone to have a meaningful conversation?
I feel at lot of people are quick to dismiss potential matches just from looking at pictures instead of reading their bio's (no matter how little info there is)

Depends on purpose.

How would you know the purpose if you haven't given the person a chance? Which goes back to "there should be attraction first"

@Jer well, everyone knows their purpose. And many people give this chance to each other but usually everything is quite clear from the beginning. Unless people meet regularly in feed, here are more chances to meet friends/lovers, if you are searching for it of course.

@♠️Dana♦️ agreed. I think you'll have an idea of the purpose during the first few lines of the conversation. I think I'm getting better luck at having good conversation in feeds/comments than in DMs. 😅

Depends on people. For me I'm more likely to dismiss someone I'm physically attractive to who looks higher maintenance than me just as much as I'd dismiss a guy who isn't my cup of physically attractiveness. Which is why I put majority of decision making on bios. Having a good personality with deeper complex thoughts and opinions is so much more attractive to me than looks. I got with one of my Exes before I even knew what he looked like. The other one I was falling for before we exchanged pictures. Also it shouldn't matter what someone looks like to have a meaningful conversation. Having a meaningful conversation should be subjective to anyone you want to have a meaningful conversation with, regardless of your relationship intentions. At least that's my opinion 🤷♀️

We are all social beings and without the initial attraction, nothing moves ahead. No one in the world will have time to get to know each soul they pass by. I won't say that physical attraction is the key but yes, it's the only way things start. I have seen an intellectual bonding between two people sharter just based on the appearance once they met. It's important but plays a secondary role onlylater in the relationship.

I have to agree with you there. I think we now live in a world where there must be an initial attraction first before you can consider moving things forward with someone. I just didn't think this same principle could apply for people who are just here to make friends.

@Jer there's something called subconscious bias and that's what acts when we check on people and their profiles. Even for friendship, we tend to have a basic criteria that needs to be filled before we make an approach and physical attraction plays a role even there. Nothing against anyone but that's why many folks are simply alone.
