I'm writing this post in a whim, I usually don't do this kind of thing because of my social anxiety. But I figured at least one person here can relate. I'm 22, grew up homeschooled, on the autistic spectrum, and I've never really had many social opportunities until relatively recently in my life. I've been told almost everyone I meet likes me, and making friends isn't that difficult for me if I try. However, I have a hard time finding people who I really "click" with, and most of my friendships are fairly superficial, with most people I talk to not putting in the effort to contact me, and the contact I do have with them is fairly infrequent. I've got some very close friends who I talk to on a daily basis, and I treasure those connections dearly, and wish I could find more like that. This goes into my romantic pursuits, almost every girl I've ever been interest in has either already had a boyfriend or been interested in someone else. And I frequently find that I'm the one having to put in all the effort, so I just stop talking to them because I don't want to come off as "creepy." Also against me are my preferences in a partner, and while I have very broad standards for what is attractive, what I'm looking for in personality is hard to come by. Having spent time with a close female friend, and felt some feelings of attraction, I feel willing to compromise to some extent, but not completely. But this goes back to that issue of getting that close with someone. Anyway, sorry to yap, idk if anyone will read this, but if you do and you've made it this far, I hope you feel some solidarity, or maybe you have something encouraging to say. Peace.

We all feel this kind of anxiety in our own way. You are the happiest when you don't think much about it sadly and just focus your attention on personal and more individual goals. It's also a given more people will feel driven towards you when you are not searching, specially when it's about relationships. Dunno what to say to motivate you in your state, just remember knowing new people will not mean everything will work out even if they meet your complicated standards. So... Just try to relax/distract yourself. Apply the philosophy of searching while not really making it your main priority. Easier said than done tho lol
