Out of date knowledge?

I recently acquired around 150 science related books at a book giveaway, however as stated above many of them are dated from around 1950 - 1970, I'm worried that the books are too old and that some of the science and data has been disprovan. Do any of you have any guidelines for what I should fact check vs. what I should take at face value.

I mean even taxonomy has shifted as they have added I think two classifications since then. Really you might even find some hilarious “facts” within the pages, depending on how much you know already. There’s no pluto anymore…. Even a debate now on if viruses are to be consider living. I wish I could say their reproductive information was accurate XD that seems simple enough to get right early on lol all i can think of is art projects to upcycle them into…

Nothing is put of date with perspective... Some just don't want to learn and I feel sorry for them.

If you have to write a paper, use Wikipedia (a no no) then look in your books and if it says the same thing, use it as a reference. Otherwise put them away give them to a grand child and maybe then they will have some value.

Most scientific discovery refines theory, not overturns it. Your books will be perfectly acceptable, but if you want to write something based on them you should do a thorough search through a curated database related to your topic to check and see if anything has been updated. (I'm talking to you journalists who still claim things like the cat-in-the box thought experiment is a valid summation of quantum physics.)

Thank you, in the end I came to a similar conclusion. And yes Schrodinger's Cat is a terrible explanation of quantum theory😅

Reality is mostly empty

Matter is made of atoms; the volume of atoms is roughly 99.999% empty space and 0.001% electrons, protons and neutrons (all are made of subparticles, which are ultimately made of of energy). So when you are looking at your self in the mirror, all you are seeing is literally just emptyness permeated by energy :)

Are blood and milk the same?

Did you know that milk is just filtered blood that female mammals create to provide vital nutrients to their babies? And yes, that includes the cow milk we all buy at the grocery store. The cocktail is composed of water, sugar, fat, and protein 100% extracted from the mom's blood by her mammary glands. Pretty neat!

Has any one of you developed a food allergy in your adult years?

I sadly developed a cashew allergy over quarantine. Cashews were my favorite nut. It makes me wonder if I may have unknowingly been an early COVID victim, but I’ll never know 🤷🏻‍♀️.

How accurate is this personality test?

I don't identify as a Mastermind.( I despise the word) From my understanding the INTJ personality type is supposed to be a rare type especially among females but on Boo that's not the case. Upon taking this test (assessment) four times over the course of one week the results came back 3/4 as this personality type. Do you agree with your supposed personality type? How many times have you taken the assessment? Does it play a major role in who you decide to communicate with on boo?

What are you studying in school and why?

Chemical engineering. I chose it because I really enjoyed AP chemistry in high school, and I got introduced to chemical engineering that way. Either one of the best or worst decisions of my life. 🥲

Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 but still got contracted it.

How many of you have gotten all 3 recommended shots as a prophylactic to COVID-19 and still got it anyhow? Or know someone that is 3x vaccinated and got sick? How effective are these vaccines? My stepdaughter is 3x vax and still got sick.

Cold

Cold weather is not my friend. The joke is: I do not produce my own body heat. And it seems that Texas forgot that snow is not a thing! So now we are all hiding in the house but very happy that we have heat. Still, between covid and weather, I may need a cuddle buddy who produces heat.
