Fun bit of historical context: Schrödinger did his famous ‘experiment’ with the cat to point out what he felt was the ridiculous nature of the claims quantum physicists were making at the time. (Specifically he was calling out the Copenhagen interpretation of of Quantum Mechanics as flawed) The entire point was that the experiment was ludicrous. The cat was very clearly *either* alive, *or* dead. We observers merely lacked the aparatus to effectively determine which was true without until the box was opened. (After all, the original thought experiment as he proposed it involves opening the box to check if the cat is alive or not) He and Albert Einstien wrote letters to each other about the experiment and their mutual dismay that the community took the experiment as proof of uncertainty dictating reality rather than as it had been intended, a satirical experiment meant to highlight the logical flaw at play in that position. Thus, Schrödinger became immortalized as a proponent of misuse of uncertainty principles rather than as someone warning against leaning so heavily on those principals simply because of the limits of current technology.
