My mom has alcoholic liver disease, and I have always wanted to quit drinking. I'm a terrible lightweight, and I hate being drunk, and my hangovers last for days, but everyone in my family drinks constantly. My father drinks every day. My brothers and sisters always encourage me to drink. If I go to a family party, I am constantly offered alcohol, over and over. I drank yesterday at my aunt's house and feel sick today now. This is like my fifth time quitting.

Bad habits are hard to quit. For one reason or another, we use them to satiate something in us. I have my fair share of unhealthy habits that I'd love to get over, but it’s easier said then done. I feel like you're in a good position to quit drinking because you just said yourself that you don't enjoy it that much. You're just doing it in order to belong and feel a part of something. Reality is that you shouldn't need to maintain bad habits to belong to any group, and they should understand that and support you. Do what's good for you before it gets too hard to stop. (edited)
