📆 Four-day workweek: what do you think?

More companies are testing shorter workweeks, as employers grapple with widespread worker burnout amid the tight labor market. While four-day workweeks are nowhere close to becoming the norm, the pandemic has put new momentum behind the idea. Starting today, 28 companies collectively employing over 4,000 people in the U.S. and Canada will begin a six-month pilot of shortened workweeks. Not all industries can implement four-day workweeks. Health care, first-responder and service providers still need to cover shifts, which would increase costs for additional workers if salaries remain unchanged. I think that it will work and we will see happier people with better work-life balance. It will cost companies less cause there will be fewer sick days, more productivity and the cost for social Medicare will also go down in Canada because less stress means less health issues. It will still take 40 years for businesses to implement because change is hard. Small nontraditional places will do it first then the market will shift and traditional places will have to adapt or go bust.

I'm all for it. Productivity is the same, you get more time for your family, friends or yourself, and you get full pay - which I interpret as a week's pay is still a week's pay.
