People are so mean!

People can be so mean, but honestly, it just makes me laugh at this point. I was having a perfectly platonic conversation with someone when they suddenly snapped at me. They asked if I was watching the Super Bowl today, and I politely mentioned that I’m not really into it and don't usually watch. ​Instead of just moving on, they called me 'dumb' and 'stupid,' claiming that knowing about the Super Bowl is 'basic world knowledge.' I tried to explain that where I’m from, Football and basketball are the main sports. I pointed out that outside of North America, most people don’t follow American football or ice hockey, but they just got even angrier and more defensive. They doubled down on calling me stupid before finally blocking me. ​I honestly feel a bit of self-pity for even engaging with someone like that, but mostly, I just find it hilarious how worked up people get over a game! 😂
