There are 2 ways to look at this I think... Either you become set in your ways ...or you compromise and you learn to love your partner....flaws and all... The way I see it, there should be some core values that define who you are... Respect those core values and defend them with grace and dignity and unless it really changes your perspective for the better....defend them and hope your partner aligns with them ... Everything else I think can be compromised upon, especially if it means their happiness

Yes. I think we all do at some point. I feel like we eventually pick someone who also likes us and is willing to have a relationship with us and that we “settle” for something good enough. To be honest, if we were to find the best pick, we would have to go through all compatible people on the planet to find “the one”. We don’t have that much time. So when we find someone who makes us happy enough, and hits the majority of our priority boxes, we consider them the one. Confirmation bias. For me, I do not believe in there being one person we are supposed to marry. We have to chose to make a relationship work and that requires both parties to do the same. Marriage, assuming that is the goal, can be difficult, especially when there is a disagreement on which is the right choice. One is going to have to make a choice between the relationship and being right and to me, that is where the ability to let go comes in handy. It’s called compromise and is healthy for any relationship.
