What does “easy” really mean?
We often want to let go, to surrender to a reality that feels permanently comfortable. Someone once said - and I agree with this idea - “It is easier to be negative than to be positive.” Nowadays, becoming one’s own environment of peace takes effort. It is much easier to believe everything is against us than to ask: What am I meant to learn from this? How can I protect myself, grow, adapt? Peace costs as much as chaos - but we sleep better. In 1-2 hour movies, we are shown one month, twenty-five years, sometimes a lifetime of a relationship. It is filtered, idealized. We step out of our routines, our habits, our loved ones - and meet someone whose world is unfamiliar, just as ours is unfamiliar to them. What we don’t see is the less engaging reality: days, months, years of consistency. Real life is not a summary - it is a whole. Often, we want someone to accept us as we are… yet we are beings in constant change. Saying “I’ve always been this way” doesn’t mean love requires no explanation, no compromise. After all, we can say “there was no bread” when we simply forgot to buy some. So why say “I find you less attractive,” “you say senseless things,” when words are conscious choices - and choices can create insecurity? Freedom of speech doesn’t mean expressing everything. Especially when care is involved. I like to believe that just as we refill our pet’s bowl, feed them, care for them, take them to the vet - it is constant. If food and water were forgotten repeatedly, the animal would become mistrustful, undernourished. It’s only an example - but safety is built through consistency. And trust always follows actions.
