Calling all queers and allies, we need you!

The current wave of transphobia that we’re facing is the beginning of a backlash against the rights that LGBT people have gained over the last two decades. The hope of the nut jobs in the far right media is that, by turning the public against trans folks, they can eventually dismantle all the gains made by the LGB folk made as well. There are some members of the queer community (LGB Alliance & Log Cabin Republicans) who seem to think that those of us who are cis can somehow save themselves by throwing transgendered people under the bus. The belief is delusional at best, “Cisgender” lesbians, gays, and bisexuals will ALWAYS have more in common with us trans folk in terms of political interests. Anything benefitting transgendered people will inevitably benefit the cisgender queer community since our sexual orientations are already seen as gender non-conforming. This is a very scary time to be queer, whether you’re cis or trans. Those of us who are cis or cis passing need to be ready to defend our trans siblings both politically and physically (Especially Trans women of color who are disproportionately targeted for violence) at all costs. You need to remember that none of us are safe until ALL of us are safe.
