To US citizens who reside there (especially if you’re not a fan of the US itself), why do you stay in the US?
I’m sincerely considering immigrating out of this country long term. But what makes you stay, besides higher pay? Is higher pay and ‘more opportunity’ really that worth it at times? Is it family and friends? Is it needing to provide for your next generation of kids? All I see is people struggling to stay afloat, people complaining over systems they have every right to complain about, especially when they aren’t doing enough for them. People retiring, having saved tons and planned it out their whole life, yet it still not being even remotely sufficient at times with healthcare and rates continually soaring. People working forever stressed and when there is paid time off accumulated, not even know what to really do with it, but store it and keep working. Where the goal is to hustle your ass off ‘to make it’, but making it equating to more than just survival and basic needs being met. A lot of this for sure is my opinion and observation, but I’d like to know the main reason why you stay, ESPECIALLY IF you’re not the biggest proponent of said country in general.

Because this is the most fantastic human experiment in human history. The idea of liberty at its core, is truly phenomenal. The idea that hard work, application, and good life choices can lead to a productive, fulfilling life with meaning with your community- what's not to love. I can work hard, get whatever I want, say whatever I want, all under a system of laws that protects my rights to do so, provided I don't violate other's rights to do so. The idea that we are all created equal, with equal rights and equal opportunities, that our ideas may not have merit but we have the right to say them, that we can be blessed to be in the country with quality of life never before seen in human history, where we are so content that our biggest struggle has now been turning to a sense of purpose in life, because our freedom has made us so content and complacent we struggle to find meaning- that's a phenomenal human achievement. We've pushed the boundaries of what makes life good so far, and we can continue to do so. The systems aren't broken, the knowledge of their philosophical underpinnings is too little known. But this is still, by far, the greatest country in the history of humanity in what we've achieved and the opportunity our foundations give us to improve.

Hawaii 🌋
My sister and I woke up at 2:30 in the morning to go on a tour to watch the sunrise on the top of a dormant volcano called Mauna Kea in Hawaii. Absolutely breathtaking view. It’s one the top spots in the U.S to stargaze! It was also freezing, being that high up but it was well worth it lol
