Travel thoughts and confessions

I've just returned from my yearly trip to Finland, and I thought I could say something about it. Its more of a 5 am thought but who cares. Also, warning, long contorted text ahead I think there is really something special in traveling, especially when it comes to doing it multiple times to the same place. To me, Finland has a really soft spot and during the past years Ive been literally in love with it. It has always been my safe place to be. This year was different tho, after walking more and getting to interact and to question the environment I realized there is quite a lot of less pleasurable stuff that somehow was able to steal a bit of magic from the wonderful nordic world my mind had perhaps created. I was frustrated for a couple of days, almost feeling the urge of going back to where I had started. Then I went to the most special place in that area and I was surprised to see that it was way more magical than it had ever been to my eyes. I think my mind had finally realized that wonderful and flawed always coexist beyond a coat of "perfection". I had this sudden realization and started crying and feeling guilty, as if I had insulted the place itself with my naive thinking from before. Tears aside, when recalling that scenery I now feel like that whole place is way more close to my heart than it has even been before and I think this is a wonderful feeling only travel can give. Seeing and accepting the complexty of stuff even when your mind creates unlikely worlds to literally escape reality Or... maybe I am just naive :> I guess the choice is up to the reader.
