The Insult of the Words: Witch/Warlock

Let's start this segment by me saying that this is not meant to agitate anyone, but it is written in the hopes of educating every man, woman, and child about the dangers of self representation and how a word can doom one's own pathway in life. First off, the word witch or warlock has been a popular way of presenting oneself that practices in life through different and even magical means. However, these two words are not exactly what people have been told or have been idolizing all this time. During the Vatican era where it was at its peak, these words are connected to the Latin word victima ("sacrificial victim") which then morphed into the Proto-Indo-European root weyk- and then again the English word "witch" originating from the Old English terms wicce (for a female practitioner of magic) and wicca (for a male practitioner), both derived from the Proto-Germanic word wikkô as well. When using these terms "witch" or "warlock" aka victima, a person is accepting and consenting to being a sacrificial lamb for the slaughter, no matter if they are a "good witch" or the opposite - the public will always assume the worst. These words bring a very heavy burden onto the individuals using them for the sake of having a label. It is not a pretty label and should be rebuked at all costs if a person wants to live freely without faulty judgement or better known as a "misunderstood" person. Secondly, during times of the Salem trials, this was a popular word and method to murder many innocent people who were slightly different than the rest and even those who used emotional intelligence as their own way of existing in a system overall. They were even words thrown around onto someone that another person was envious of just to have the victim removed, permanently. In conclusion, to admit being a witch or warlock is to allow others to continuously hunt an individual and these words truly forbid a person from weaving in and out of society without a target on their back. Words have extreme power, please research their origins before you identify with them.

Definitions are so important. Yet as time goes on they seem to be losing their meaning in place for confusing definitions. It's interesting to observe. I certainly agree with you that words have power. They lose power when the confusion starts though. Side note, I'd love to have the title warlock. I dont care what others think it would give me the same satisfaction as a Dr using their Dr title haha Interesting post and thanks for sharing.
