I'm sure everyone gets these notifications saying "send the first message and start a spark. You never know what will happen. Just be yourself" and all that jazz. Jokes on them. Hell will freeze over before I send the first message. What I'm terrified of is being myself. Social anxiety plays a huge role in it as well. Part of being an introvert I guess.

You should use this as an opportunity to practice. You have nothing to lose by sending a message while being yourself.

Yeah, just bc the app was meant for connecting people doesn't mean the people on the app are looking for real connection. That's why u shouldn't expect, but that doesn't mean u shouldn't try. How u respect urself is the effort u put into urself, don't mold to people's perspectives of how they precieve u. U are a human being, settle for what u have done, or adapt out of it and develop ur potential out of ur individual characteristics, interest, passions and curiosities. U cant control them, u can't control the world that provides u life, so control urself and learn how to manage thru life's uncertainty. U won't find contentment living somebody else's life.

Pretty sure if Gandalf told you sending the first message would save Middle Earth you'd do it. The wonderful thing about being able to connect on the internet is you don't have to use voice or video chats so no awkward eye contact or forcing yourself into uncomfortable situations. Plus if you think about it, you made a social interaction by posting this. You're already taking your first steps.
