🛑 I’m referring to the trend of posts suggesting that you should like whoever likes you, as if you should settle for anyone who shows interest. In my opinion it is far better to be selective and intentional than to settle for the sake of not wanting to be alone. 🛑 Attraction and surface level connection may create initial excitement, but without deeper alignment, the relationship is likely to struggle or completely dissolve when faced with real challenges. When we crave love, attention, or validation, it’s easy to mistake someone’s interest for true connection. This often results in relationships where one or both people are more attached to the feeling of being wanted than to the actual person in front of them. Apps like this often create an environment where manipulation (illusion) and unhealthy dynamics thrive. When we base our relationships on external validation rather than genuine alignment, we risk settling for dynamics that don’t actually serve us in the long run. I'm not saying to like someone who just shows interest in you. I'm just saying that so many people are going to be single and alone, for a very long time. Possibly the rest of their life. Why? Because so many people have created it a list of demands that they expect their significant other to meet. They've created this fantasy in their heads of what their ideal spouse/partner should be, and what traits they should have. They want perfection, and they're not going to get it. And now, you must check every one of the boxes they've created for you, before they can even determine if you're worth talking to. So like I said, many people are going to be single for a very long time, and possibly live the rest of their life alone, bypassing someone who could genuinely Make them happy, and give them genuine love, all because that person may not fit into every single box they want them to. And I don't feel sorry for people who have such shallow and superficial expectations of others. What's the old saying: One in the hand, is worth more than two in the bush." "Like" just makes the next profile load up. It the bare minimum of bare minimum interest (if that) at all. A "Like" isnt a contract nor obligation for/from anyone. Turn off your notifications for "Likes" and live a happier life. If you get upset about unrecipricated "Likes", you're setting yourself up for disappointments. Delete app instead. (edited)
