I live in the tiny town of Olsztyn; there are two towns in Poland with this name! It's a medieval town with the ruins of a medieval castle of the same name. I've visited many countries, on several continents. But I love Olsztyn because it's quiet, beautiful, and very safe. Here, you don't have to lock your car or house at night. You're not afraid to walk alone at night on the very clean streets. The buildings and infrastructure are well-maintained. There are hiking trails and bike paths. For a town with fewer than 3,000 residents, there's a heliport, a mini-hospital, a mountain rescue service, a public indoor swimming pool, and free public transport to the surrounding villages. It's a wonderful place, rich in history and stunning nature. And the big city is just 8 minutes away by car or public bus.
