Need advice

So I just started going to the gym last week. I was wondering how I should do my weight and reps. I know I over did it this week as my body feels like I have been hit by a car. Is this normal?

Very normal to be sore. You start to enjoy that feeling. Go easy on the calf machine till you get used to it or you won't be walking for a week. 3x6 to 8 reps struggling with the last lift each time for mass. 3x12 to 16 for tone /weight loss. Biggest challenge is in the kitchen. This is 85% diet 15% lifting.

If you wanna lose weight diet is the only way man. That's going to make cardio and weightlifting a lot easier for you as well. Stay consistent in the diet and keep it off. Greek yogurt, protein instant oatmeal, carnation breakfast shakes, kippers, apple sauce, and bananas are your friends. You can have some cheat snacks but keep it in moderation and make the bulk of your diet healthy and low calorie. (edited)

Okay so exceptional work, remember the first step is always the hardest. However, you have gotten over that. It entirely depends on your objectives for your body aka goals 1. Conditioning and strength 2. Fitness and a ripped physique 3. Body builder beast mode 4. For sports and athletics Each one, requires adjustment of reps and weight. Periodization, hypertrophy and resistance based workouts. But in the end whatever feels good to your body, meals and sleep are very important as well.. I would suggest a low intensity workout nominal weight and 10-12 reps. And then gradually increase. Remember this is a marathon not a sprint. In the end have fun with it :)

Hey! Feeling super sore in your first week is totally normal — your body’s just getting used to the new routine. Aim for lighter weights, 2–3 sets of 10–12 reps, and stop while you still feel like you could do a couple more reps with good form. Don’t overdo it, stay consistent, and the soreness will ease up fast.

The gym was sooooo empty.....

There was me and like four other dudes. XD I felt like little kid in the candy store. I was able to use all the equipment... So was able to do a full body workout. 🥹 It was so magical!!! I didn't have wait in line for ANYTHING!!!!!

Goals

I set a goal for myself. By the end of the year I wanna loose 45 lbs. Get back to my highschool weight. Granted I am gaining muscle in the process so I might hit an empas. I am cool with that so long as I can get in shape and loose as much as I can. I've already lost 10lbs in the last month.
