Imagine a a woman who has a Companion in her life. This makes her secretly smile. She loves him because he is a good man, considerate, attentive, a kind soul, her best friend, her s and a wonder- ful father to her children. Yes, he is all those wonderful things and now, happily, she can relax, for she holds in her hand the Ribbon of Security. And this is very good. Imagine a woman who has a Lover in her life. This makes her se- cretly smile. She loves him because he is a good man, passionate, spontaneous, romantic, seductive, with just a hint of danger and adventure. Yes, he is all those wonderful things and now, happily, she can relax, for she holds in her hand the Ribbon of Romance. And this is very good. And yet... something is missing in the hearts of both of these women. Having only one of these ribbons is not enough. A woman who finds she only has one of these ribbons will always reach out for the other ribbon with her other hand. Oh sure, she will be content for a while with only one ribbon in her grasp, perhaps for many years. But inevitably, unless she steels herself and wraps herself in resolu- tions, or she has no imagination at all, or she just decides to buy a rocking chair and get old, she will reach out for the other ribbon.
