If I were a stranger, I would wake without a plan, no debts to pay to memory, no heavy reach of hand. I’d learn the taste of coffee when the morning isn't claimed, by the echoes of their worries or the tasks that must be named. I’d walk until the city lights blur soft against the rain, no mirror in the shopfronts to reflect a hidden pain. I’d read in languages unknown, just for the sound of speech, far beyond the desperate cries that clawed within my reach. I would sit upon a quiet bench and let my shadows blur, no longer the reflection of the lives that once were— just a spark of wandering light, unburdened and undefined, the version of myself I left so very far behind.
