The Greatest Wish Allegory
There once was a poor young boy who came across a magic lamp, from the lamp came a Genie, who granted the boy three wishes. The boy, overwhelmed, asked the genie what people wish for, the Genie told the boy that people wish for power, money, or world peace, but that such grand wishes often failed, and everyone paid a heavy price. Realizing everyone's mistake, the boy made his three wishes: "I wish for a small stone." "A stone?" Asked the jeanie, he granted the boy's wish, and a stone appeared in his hand. "I wish for a single fly." "A fly?" "To live on the stone." The Genie granted his wish, and a fly orbited the stone. "What is your final wish?" Asked the Genie, still confused. "I wish for the rock to have clean air, so the fly may be happy." "You wish for air?" The Genie granted his wish, and the air around the rock was fresh and clean. Having granted the boy's wishes, the Genie returned to his slumber, and the boy, content, took the stone home. Not long after, the Earth crumbled, and split apart, the atmosphere dissipated, and all life on Earth died. The stone fell away into space, and the fly followed, content with the stone's air. The fly eventually died on the stone, and from its stomach burst a thousand bacteria, from its legs fell the pollen and seeds of a hundered plants, from its mouth, fungus began to spread, and from its skin, moisture was drawn to the sky. On the stone, life took root and balanced itself out, until eventually the stone landed on a larger rock, and from the stone's air, the plants spread, and the atmosphere spread with it, and the bacteria followed, and the fungus ate the new dead. That rock landed on a larger rock, and every subsequent landing became bigger, life becoming bigger, until there was a planet the size of a thousand Solary Systems, whose sun was a Galaxy, wherein life spread indefinitely. One day the Genie is awoken on the planet, and he knew then what the boy had wished for. (edited)

Here
I used to live in a forest. The trees shrouding any glimmer of light that the sun could naturally provide. The day came when I finally found a path that would lead me out of this wilderness. The sweet scent of blooms and grass that has been fed by the sun's energy on the hilltops of a valley. A... read more
