David Hatch Bio
David Hatch was an esteemed British broadcaster, writer, and comedy producer who contributed greatly to the entertainment industry during his lifetime. He was born on May 7, 1939, in the town of Ludlow, Shropshire, in the United Kingdom. Hatch studied at Oxford University, where he co-founded the satirical comedy group, the Oxford Revue, with Terry Jones and Michael Palin, both of whom later gained fame as part of the Monty Python comedy troupe.
During the 1960s, David Hatch was hired by the BBC, where he worked on several successful radio shows, including "The News Huddlines," which he co-wrote and co-produced with John Lloyd. Hatch also produced the popular TV series "At Last the 1948 Show," which helped launch the careers of comedy legends such as John Cleese, Graham Chapman, and Tim Brooke-Taylor.
Aside from his work in broadcasting, David Hatch had some notable roles in politics. During the early 1990s, he worked as the head of the Liberal Democrats party press office until he resigned in 1994. After his resignation, Hatch returned to the BBC, where he was appointed as the head of the corporation's Light Entertainment division. He was also responsible for producing several comedy and variety shows, such as "The Two Ronnies," "The Goodies," and "Not the Nine O'Clock News."
Despite his impressive career, David Hatch suffered from cancer and passed away on June 13, 2007, at the age of 68. He left behind a legacy that touched the lives of many people in the entertainment industry, and the BBC later paid tribute to him by releasing a compilation of his best comedy series, entitled "The Best of David Hatch."
