David Torrence was a British athlete who was known for his dominance in long-distance running. He was born on November 26, 1985, in Okinawa, Japan, to an American father and a British mother. Torrence spent his early childhood in Japan, but his family later moved to the United States when he was six years old. He grew up in California and attended the University of California Berkeley, where he became a two-time All-American in distance running. Torrence's career in athletics began to take off in the mid-2000s when he started competing professionally.
