Lien Deyers is a German film actress who was active during the 1920s and 1930s. Born on October 5, 1909, in Stargard, Germany, Lien Deyers gained fame across Europe for her performances in silent and early sound films. She starred in over 25 movies, mostly produced in Germany, but also in France and the United Kingdom. Her acting career began in 1928, when Lien Deyers met with director Lupu Pick and starred in the film "The Man in the Frame." She quickly became a celebrated actress for her beauty and acting range, particularly in the film "Die Sehnsucht jeder Frau" (The Longing of Every Woman) of 1930, where she played opposite Gustav Fröhlich. She also worked with prominent directors such as Fritz Lang, in the 1931 film "M," and G.W. Pabst, in the 1931 film "La Tragédie de la mine." Lien Deyers was one of the most popular lead actresses of her time, but her promising career soon came to a halt with the rise of the Nazi regime in Germany. She had Jewish ancestry and was forced to leave Germany to escape persecution. After a short stay in France, she moved to the United States where she worked in New York's garment district. However, her acting career never resumed, and she remained mostly unknown to the public until her death in 1992. Despite the tragic end to her career, Lien Deyers left a lasting impact on the silent film era, as well as the pioneering period in the history of German cinema.
