He continued to compete at the highest level for several years, winning numerous national and international titles and breaking several British records in the process. Beyond his athletic career, Cracknell was also known for his work as a sports journalist, commentator, and coach. He worked for The Guardian newspaper for many years, covering major sporting events including the Olympic Games and the football World Cup.
