What is automated decision-making and profiling?
These definitions are taken from the GDPR, which is Europe's data protection framework. (The GDPR is "General Data Protection Regulation")

Does Boo rely on automated decision-making or profiling?
We use automated decision-making and profiling to create more meaningful connections with you by making available to us the services you know and enjoy, on which we continuously enhance and without which we would be unable to assist you in creating meaningful relationships. We employ these characteristics for the following purposes:
To assist you in connecting with other people
We utilize the data you give us (such as your gender and age) in conjunction with information we gather from your use of the service (such as your activity on the service and your location if you choose to provide it) to power our own bespoke matching algorithm and recommend suitable individuals to you.Our algorithm is not influenced by such factors as race, ethnicity, income, or religion.
Of course, you may always modify your discovery settings to exclude profiles that are displayed to you on Boo.
To highlight advertising and offers that may be of interest to you
Our goal is to offer you with the most relevant and timely information, based on your preferences. We collect data about you in order to show you useful and appropriate ads on and off our site, as well as evaluate their effectiveness. Information about you is also used to provide incentives and discounts suited to your profile.
To enhance safety and security
We employ automated decision-making and profiling in our moderation activities (for example, removing bots), as well as to make it easier for our users to avoid illegal and unlawful behavior.
Users who are reported as or found to be engaging in illegal or unauthorized activities, both on and off our services, could have their accounts suspended or closed without prejudice to other legal actions we might take.
