Bio – Robert Ellenstein

Robert Ellenstein was an American actor best known for his work on television and film. Born on June 18, 1923, in New York City, Ellenstein began his acting career in the late 1940s. He appeared in numerous television shows, films, and stage productions throughout his career, earning critical acclaim and a reputation as a talented performer. Ellenstein's early career in theater included roles in several off-Broadway productions. In 1954, he made his Broadway debut in the play "Ondine." He went on to appear in several other Broadway productions, including "The Crucible" and "The Lark." Ellenstein was also a founding member of the Actors Studio in New York City, where he trained under legendary acting coach Lee Strasberg. In addition to his work on stage, Ellenstein also had a prolific career in film and television. He appeared in dozens of TV shows throughout the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, including "Perry Mason," "The Twilight Zone," and "Star Trek." He also had recurring roles in several popular TV series, including "The F.B.I." and "Falcon Crest." On the big screen, Ellenstein appeared in films such as "Save the Tiger," "The Boston Strangler," and "The Secret War of Harry Frigg." Ellenstein continued to act well into his seventies, appearing in TV shows like "The West Wing" and "Six Feet Under" and films like "The Game" and "Out to Sea." He passed away on October 28, 2010, at the age of 87. Throughout his long and varied career, Robert Ellenstein was widely regarded as a talented and versatile actor who made a lasting impact on both stage and screen.
