Her efforts led to her being labeled as one of the leading feminist voices of her time. As a feminist, Crelinger was an active member of several women's’ rights organizations. In 1865, she founded the Berlin Women's Association, and in 1869, she became the first female member of the German Press Association. She also co-founded the National Women's Association of Germany in 1895, an organization that primarily focused on female suffrage. Her work as an activist and journalist had a significant impact on the feminist movement in Germany and beyond. Throughout her career, Auguste Crelinger challenged gender norms and stereotypes, paving the way for future generations of women journalists and activists. She died in 1893, but her legacy has continued to inspire feminist movements worldwide. In recognition of her contributions towards women's rights and journalism, her birthday, March 8th, is celebrated globally as International Women's Day.
