Their military strategies challenged the conventional tactics of that era, causing significant losses for the enemy and gaining widespread admiration from Iranians. Ultimately, Babak's uprising was quelled in 837 AD when the Abbasid Caliphate launched a massive campaign against Alamut. Despite the fall of his fortress, Babak refused to surrender and fought valiantly until the end. Captured alive, he was taken to the Abbasid capital, Samarra, where he was harshly executed. His unwavering resistance, however, left an indelible mark on Iranian history and culture, transforming him into a national symbol of defiance against oppression and a source of inspiration for generations to come.
