Revisit: Mukundan Unni Associates' (2022/ Malayalam/ Hotstar)

Revisited 'Mukundan Unni Associates' (2022/ Malayalam/ Hotstar) when the depression hit me for some moments. This is a film where I could resonate with the lead actor (a marvellous Vineeth Sreenivasan). He starts as a righteous man, who realizes how being unfair is the new normal for a fair stay, even if it means having your rival ( a terrific Suraj Venjaramoodu) killed in an 'accident'. He plays subtle, smart and even dumb at times while being the best in his game. What is more important to note is that Sreenivasan's ladylove played by Aarsha Chandini Baiju is the woman that every man desires. She knows everything about her husband (even the wrongdoings), yet, she has his back. Her monologue while confronting an honest female lawyer was amazing and you can't help it, but end up agreeing with her. What I felt was that Vineeth carried the legacy of his father Sreenivasan forward when it comes to playing grey characters, who nailed with so in films like 'His Highness Abdullah' (1990), 'Sandesham' (1991) and 'Traffic' (2007). While the film doesn't "advocate" for the wrong being shown right, the film does smartly inspire you to be smart and subtle while keeping your cool. For nothing remains permanent and you shall also have your moment to strike it down. This is one of the rare films where I laughed and clapped in every death scene (especially that of Venjaramoodu's character, and no, I love this guy as an actor).
