Peter Hansen Bio
Peter Hansen was an American actor best known for his portrayal of Lee Baldwin on the soap opera General Hospital. Hansen was born on December 5, 1921, in Oakland, California. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. Hansen began his career in the entertainment industry in radio dramas and later moved on to film and television.
Hansen made his film debut in the 1950 movie Branded and went on to appear in numerous films throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Some of his notable film credits include When Worlds Collide, The Savage and The War of the Worlds. However, it was his role as Lee Baldwin on General Hospital that made him a household name. Hansen played the character for over 30 years, earning him several Daytime Emmy nominations and a win in 1979 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
In addition to General Hospital, Hansen had recurring roles on the television shows The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. and The Golden Girls. He also made guest appearances on popular shows such as The Twilight Zone, Perry Mason, The Fugitive, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Hansen continued to work in the entertainment industry until his retirement in 2004. He passed away on April 9, 2017, at the age of 95.
