Arthur Christiansen was a British journalist and newspaper editor who was born on July 27, 1900, in Wallasey, Cheshire, United Kingdom. He is best known for his work at the Daily Express, which gained a circulation of over four million under his guidance. Christiansen was considered a visionary in the world of journalism and was responsible for the use of pictures and daring headlines to attract readers to the newspaper. Christiansen started his career in journalism in 1918 as a sub-editor at the Manchester Guardian. He then moved to the Daily Express, where he was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief in 1933. Under his leadership, the newspaper added a sports section, which eventually became one of the most popular sections in the paper. Christiansen was known for his ability to spot and nurture talent, and many successful journalists, such as Ian Fleming, James Cameron, and John Betjeman, started their careers working under him.
